It is true that the soul which has once rooted itself in Christ can never lose all the brightness of its King. Once the splendid Son of Righteousness has come into the central throne room (the throne of our heart), the castle can never lose its bright glory. And yet, by our foolish neglect, and by our willful sins, we drape the whole castle with a black pall. Teresa of Avila

The world we are living in today is full of turmoil and chaos on every front and at every turn. The news has become a constant reminder of how tentative and uncertain everything is. For many in America there is little hope on the horizon as everything seems to be out of their control. Many wonder how they are going to survive all the pressures of daily life and sadly, so do many Christians even though they hold the answer.

This is a wakeup call to those who have made their personal commitment to their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We hold the key to survival the world is looking for and we cannot fail to share it. But to do so we must overcome our human side and allow our spirit to take charge and lead us through this “wilderness” we find ourselves in. And the key to that is to stop and take a long hard look at our relationship with the One to whom we are engaged to be married. Do we really know Him? What is He expecting of us? How can we find the answers? These questions and many more must be answered if we are going to be able to step up and become all that He created us to be.

That is the challenge, and if we do not overcome it, not only will we be the loser, so will the lost in America. The words of the Lord that rang in Solomon’s ears sound a clarion call today for the bride Christ:

2 Chr 7:14 If my people who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

I encourage you to take up the challenge, leave the unfulfilled life of the carnal Christian, and move up the road to spiritual maturity. The Spirit-filled life that awaits you will lead to an incredible adventure as you submit to the leading of the Holy Spirit. All that it takes is the faith to cross your Jordan River and enter your Canaan, your Promised Land … the Rest of Christ.
