In reading in the book of Revelation this morning I came across a note I had written alongside Chapter 19. It reminded me of just who we are as the Bride of Christ. I decided to take some time this week to spend some time meditating on how God views us. I invite you to consider along with me just who we are and whose we are in these examples.
The Shepherd and The Sheep – John 10 – I am the gate for the sheep … I am the good shepherd … I know my sheep and my sheep know me … I lay down my life
The Vine and The Branches – John 15 – I am the true vine … you are the branches … Remain in Me and I will remain in you … apart from Me you can do nothing … ask whatever you wish and it will be given to you
The Cornerstone and The Building Stones – Eph 2 – You are no longer foreigners and aliens … you are fellow citizens with Christ … built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets … with Jesus Christ as the chief cornerstone … in Him the whole building is joined together … in which God lives by His spirit
The High Priest and The Kingdom of Priests – 1 Pet 2 – you come to Him, the living Stone … like living stones you are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood … you are a royal priesthood … rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to Him
The Head and The Body – Eph/1 Cor – the head over all things to the church … Christ is the head of the church and He is the savior of the body … the head of Christ is God … the body is one … the body is of Christ … God has set the members every one of them in the body as it hath pleased Him
The Last Adam and The New Creation – Rom 5 – Adam who was a pattern of the One to come … Just as the result of on trespass was condemnation for all me, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men … where sin increased, grace increased all the more … to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord
The Bridegroom and The Bride – Rev 19, 21, 22 – The marriage of the Lamb has come … His wife has made herself ready … arrayed in fine linen clean and white … the righteousness of the saints … come hither, I will show you the bride, the Lamb’s wife … And the Spirit and the bride say, Come
As we think about who we are as His bride it should encourage us and challenge us to become all we can be. That’s what this probation period we are walking through down here is all about. It’s incumbent upon each one of us to pursue the righteousness and holiness He has given us that He will be glorified. What an incredible and awesome blessing for The Sheep, The Branches, The Building Stones, The Kingdom of Priests, The Body, The New Creation … The Bride.
