Just something to think about this morning. I was reading a message that Oswald Chambers delivered to soldiers in Egypt during WW I. It was a challenging message on Biblical Ethics and his opening statement got my attention. There is a lot in that message but I spent some time thinking about that statement. See if it challenges you as much as it did me.
Heb 9:22 Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins. ESV
Christ Is the Blood of God
The Cross Is the Blood of Christ
“When we speak of the blood of Christ we mean that what He did drew upon what was the very citadel of His personality and involved His total self.”
1 John 2:2 He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. ESV
Sin Is the Blood of Satan
Self-realization Is the Blood of sin
“What in us harrows the heart, in Him harrowed Hell. He revolutionizes the eternal foundations of our moral world”
1 John 3:8 Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. ESV
Sanctification Is the Blood of The Saint
Repentance Is the Blood of Sanctification
“The sinner could only be saved by something that damned his sin.”
1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. ESV
“The Christian revelation is not that Jesus Christ stands to us as the Representative of God, but that He is God. If He is not, then we have no God. We do not worship an austere, remote God, He is here in the thick of it.”
