Don’t Look, Don’t Lower … Just Give!

As I continue my never ending study of Paul’s book to the Romans – and me – I have grown accustomed to the Lord continually showing me applications of the Old Testament’s truths to my life today. The other morning was no exception as I was reading about Abraham in Chapter 4.

As I read those familiar verses the Lord pointed out to me that when He makes a promise to us, especially one that seems impossible, we need to follow in Abraham’s footsteps. Remember he was around 86 and Sarah was 76 when God made His promise; I have made you a father of may nations … talk about impossible. But, as we know, Abraham (by faith) “believed God” and that was “accounted to him for righteousness.” Note that it wasn’t his faith that accounted for his righteousness, it was the fact that by faith “he believed God” (we’ll look at that another time.) For our purpose here I want to share with you what God showed me from a practical perspective when we are believing Him, standing on His promise, and the enemy comes in with his doubts, accusations, and fear. Just like in the Garden … Did God actually say? .

Don’t Look At Your LimitationsRom 4:19 And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb. NKJV

Don’t Lower Your Expectations – Rom 4:20(a) He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief … but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God …

Give The Glory To God – Rom 4:20(b) but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, NKJV

Give The Situation To God – Rom 4:21 and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. NKJV

Every action the Lord has told us to take the enemy will attack with doubt: You can’t do that; You better think about that. At that moment we need to look the devil in the face and give God the glory for what He has promised and release the situation to Him. How do we accomplish that? By the same way we believed Him; by activating our faith. Don’t Look, Don’t Lower … Just Give!
