Are You Performing?

How many of us are “performing” the Christian life? Is being a Christian a real experience for you? Has it changed your life-style? Have you made the wonderful discovery of supernatural life? Or have you felt something is missing from your Christian life? Do you know the joy and power of the Holy Spirit? Are you a victorious, fruitful witness for Christ? If not, I have good news. The third Person of the Trinity is always present and is ever ready with the right answer, proper prayer, comforting word, gentle understanding, and loving touch. He is an equal member of the creation team and knew you before you were in your mother’s womb.

How awesome that God has placed within every believer all the power of the universe, and that power knows me personally. He knows everything that I have ever thought, said, or done. He understands me better than I understand myself and yet He loves me anyway. So, how is it possible that I can forget He is there with me at every turn? How can I ignore the wisdom of the ages that sits at my right hand, ready with the Word that I desperately need? Fortunately, I know the answer!

I do not spend my day communing with Him. Often I forget to ask for His opinion. I remain focused on what I think God wants in all the little situations that present themselves throughout the day. Many Believers wear the What Would Jesus Do, but I wonder how many stop to ask their personal counselor for the answer we need?

Over the years my life has gone through many dark valleys and I knew that the Holy Spirit was there in every one of them. I just never bothered to talk to Him, and He, being the perfect gentleman, never interrupted my introspective and all too human approach to the situation. But thank God we do not have to live life in that empty place.

God has a vital interest in this “walk” of ours. So much so that His Spirit is poised to respond to the smallest question we put forth. Nothing is too small or too large for God; the God who parted the Red Sea and who notices every sparrow that falls to the ground. We are the only things He created in His image and He takes a very personal interest in each one of us. We have been given special callings and giftings to enable us to walk in His Perfect Will. We each have a part to play in advancing His coming Kingdom and He has given us all the power we will ever need to accomplish it … but do we use it?  

We all need to take time to get to know The Holy Spirit. He is sitting in the living room of your heart, just waiting for you to sit down and share yourself with Him. He came in the moment you asked Jesus to forgive your sins and become the Lord of your life, and He will never leave you. He is walking with you every moment and will release His power within you to accomplish your God-given calling the moment you ask.

I can tell you from the Word of God and personal experience that when you begin a relationship with the Holy Spirit, He will draw you closer to Jesus than you have ever been. He will be your light in all the dark corners and the lamp that leads you to the Word in all situations. He is a faithful teacher, a healer, comforter, and advocate … He is yours. Listen for His voice and by the faith within you, the very faith He has given you, trust and believe Him in all things. After all, He is the Spirit of the Father and everything He says and does points to our bridegroom. 

John 16:13-14 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. 14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

We have been given everything we could ever need or want in the person of the Holy Spirit. We need to get to know and trust Him!
