John 3:3 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” ESV
Everyone has a need for a new birth, but so often the concept gets turned around. It is not a concept of something that springs out of us, it’s something that enters into us. Just like Jesus came into human history from without, He must come into us from without. The new birth of the Life of Jesus has to come into our human nature; a nature that needs to be transfigured by His indwelling life. The question we have to ask ourselves … have we allowed our humanity to become a “Bethlehem” for the Son of God?
Luke 1:35 And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God. ESV
Have we learned by obedience to make room for Jesus to live His life in us … to draw us ever closer to Him … to reflect His life to the world around us … to become transformed into His image? It all begins with our becoming Bethelem for the Son of God and, by His grace, living His life one day at a time.
